Minute with Marlin EP #3 – Don’t Miss the Awe Right Outside Your Door

As a young boy, Marlin watched a powerful storm roll through with tornadoes touching down nearby.

A funnel cloud spun just 100 yards behind their house, hovering above the treetops. While the rest of the family took shelter in the basement, his dad stood outside, calmly watching in awe of nature’s raw power.

Marlin was terrified, yet deeply moved by his father’s fearless wonder. That moment stayed with him.

These short, heartfelt Minutes with Marlin deliver quick moments of wisdom, faith, humility, and encouragement—perfect for busy homestead days when we need a gentle reminder of what really matters.

Marlin Miller:
I remember once as a little boy, we had a big storm go through the area and there were tornadoes. I remember my dad watching a funnel cloud, not more than a hundred yards out back of our home just above the tops of the trees. I remember asking him, begging him to come into the basement with mom and our family with us kids. He would not budge. He was in awe. He wanted to see the power of the storm. I remember as a little boy being both terrified and awestruck that my dad was not afraid. He might’ve been afraid, but he didn’t let me see it. But it was one of those defining moments for me. Here’s the point. Don’t miss the opportunities to see and enjoy the power of nature and the beauty and the peacefulnes that is all around us. We live on screens so much.
Put those screens down every so often, go for a walk, grab a book, grab a magazine and sit and enjoy actual solitude and quiet.
