The acquisition brings together two organizations committed to strengthening families, communities and the American heartland.
DUFUR, Ore. (October 13, 2026) – Azure Standard, one of America’s largest independent organic and natural food distributors, today announced its acquisition of Plain Values, a nationally distributed quarterly magazine known for its inspiring stories celebrating faith, family, agriculture and traditional values. The acquisition brings together two organizations with a shared commitment to promoting healthier families, stronger communities and a more sustainable way of life.
Founded in 2012 by Marlin Miller and based in Winesburg, Ohio, Plain Values has built a loyal national readership through its compelling stories about everyday Americans making a difference in their communities. With roots in the Amish and rural farming communities, the publication highlights the importance of faith, family, service, adoption and simple living, appealing to readers who share those values regardless of where they live.
“Plain Values represents so much of what we believe in at Azure Standard,” said David Stelzer, founder and CEO of Azure Standard. “For decades, our mission has been about much more than providing healthy food. It’s about strengthening families, supporting farmers and helping communities thrive. Plain Values has been telling those same stories in a powerful and meaningful way. We’re excited to welcome Marlin and his team into the Azure family and help bring their message of faith, hope and traditional values to an even broader audience.”
The acquisition comes as Stelzer releases his new book, Seeds of Hope: The Azure Standard Story— Abundant Living through Healthy Food (Forefront Books/Simon & Schuster), which chronicles the family’s journey from a small Oregon farm to a nationwide organic food distributor serving customers in all 50 states. The book, released today, explores the principles of faith, perseverance, healthy living and stewardship that have guided the company’s growth.
“This is an exciting new chapter for Plain Values,” said Miller, who will remain editor-in-chief of the magazine and host of The Plain Values Podcast. “From the beginning, our goal has been to share stories that inspire, encourage and remind people of what matters most. Azure Standard shares that vision, and joining forces gives us an opportunity to reach more families and make an even greater impact. We couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead.”
The acquisition was finalized October 9 and is effective immediately. Azure Standard will retain the entire Plain Values team, and the magazine will continue to operate from its longtime home in Winesburg, Ohio.
